The Imperial War Museum in London has put the records of 4.5 million men and more than 40,000 women who served with the British army overseas on a new website, "Lives of the First World War". But many of the records are just names and the museum wants members of the public to add their own pictures and memories to provide a comprehensive picture of what life was like during the 1914-18 war.
Museum hopes to put details of about eight million people online over the next four years.
The records of almost 17,000 conscientious objectors will be included, as will those of people who contributed to the war effort in their home countries. The records have been pulled together from existing archives and family collections.

Bank branches abroad allowed to sell structured products by RBI
Easing norms for functioning of overseas branches of Indian banks, the Reserve Bank has permitted them to offer structured financial and derivative products, a move that would help in improving their income, which is important among Banking Current Affairs. However, these products like Exchange Traded Funds and bond derivatives are not permitted in the domestic market. These activities are permitted only at the established financial centers outside India like New York, London, Singapore, Hong Kong, Frankfurt, Dubai and others.
By easing the norms for functioning of overseas branches of Indian Bank, the RBI has revised the rules passed on 1 December 2008 that mandated domestic lenders to consult with RBI before offering complex derivative products, which are not allowed at home to overseas customers.
