Which programme has been launched by the Union Power Minister announced for LED based Domestic Efficient Lighting - UJALA
Among the important National Current Affairs, On 11th March 2016, the LED based Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) named 'UJALA' has been launched by Union Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal.
At present, the programme is running successfully in over 120 cities. It is implemented by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).
The motive of the programme is to replace 77 crore incandescent lamps with LED bulbs.
India, IMF signed an agreement to set up SARTTAC
On 12th March 2016, for training officials in dealing with macro-economic and financial issues a South Asia Regional Training and Technical Assistance Center (SARTTAC) is to be set up. An agrreement in this regard was signed by India and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley signed the MoU in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to set up the centre.
Republic of Korea, India and Australia have pledged to provide financial support for the centre.
Who has won Golden City Gate Award - Kerala Tourism campaign
Among the important National Current Affairs, On 12th March 2016, the prestigious ‘Golden City Gate Award’ was won by Kerala Tourism’s campaign titled ‘New Worlds’ at the Internationale Tourismus-Börse Berlin (ITB-Berlin) 2016.
The campaign comprise three short films directed by reputed Malayalam filmmaker Anwar Rasheed which has won the silver prize in 2016 Das Golden Stadttor or Golden City Gate.
About Golden Gate Award
It is considered as the Oscar in tourism communication and is awarded every year for the recognition in global tourism communication.
Who has sworn-in as Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court - Justice Ajit Singh
Among the important National Current Affairs, On 12th March 2016, Justice Ajit Singh was sworn in as Chief Justice (CJ) of the Gauhati High Court.
Assam Governor P B Acharya as per the provisions of the Article 129 of Constitution administered the oath of office to him.
President Pranab Mukherjee appointed him after following recommendation of the Supreme Court collegium headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) T.S. Thakur as per provisions Article 222 of Constitution.
