IPL 2014 to be held in three countires - UAE, Bangladesh and India
As per a release from BCCI on 12th March 2014, IPL tournament will be held in three countries - United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bangladesh and India from 16th April 2014 to 1st June 2014. So IPL 2014 will be played in three phases accordingly.
Decision for matches outside India was taken due to polls in India. In India mathes and playoffs will be played from 13th May 2014 to 1st June 2014, so cricket fans can buy IPL tickets accordingly, although no matches will be conducted on the day of counting of the polls on 16 May 2014.

NALCO appointed Soma Mondal as director
Navratna Public Sector Unit (PSU) National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) got a new director (commercial) - Soma Mondal. Soma Mondal is first woman director of NALCO. She was appointed as director of NALCO on 12th March 2014. Soma Mondal joined Nalco in 1984 as a Graduate Engineer Trainee.
Important to note :
National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Nalco) is a public sector enterprise of the Government of India. It was incorporated in 1981 to exploit a part of the large deposits of bauxite discovered in the East Coast.
Nagaland and Assam first states to be issued with Plastic Photo Identity Cards
Nagaland and Assam became the first two states to be issued with Plastic Photo Identity Card for elections in India. Deputy Election commissioner Sudhir Tripathi in Kohima announced this on 12th March 2014.
The voters of Nagaland and Assam will be using the cards for the first time in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The Election commission decided to provide plastic Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) instead of laminated paper card to voters in India to avoid duplication and forgery.
4.4 billion dollar deal inked between Spice jet and Boeing
At the inauguration of India Aviation 2014 in Hyderabad, Spice Jet and Boeing Company signed a deal worth 4.4 billion dollar which in terms of rupees is 26000 Crore.
The Spice Jet placed the order for 42 Next Generation 737 MAX8 aircraft and the aircrafts will be delivered in 2018. The 737 MAX8 (737-800) is 14 percent more fuel efficient compared with its 737 planes. 737 MAX8 has pleasing effect, bigger wings and new engine.
World Kidney Day observed on 13th March
World Kidney Day was observed across globe on 13th March 2014.
Important to note :
The first World Kidney Day started in 2006. It is a joint initiative of the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations (IFKF).
CBI probe ordered by IRDA for ICICI Lombard alleged fraud in Government Schemes
The IRDA on 12th March 2014 ordered a CBI probe into alleged fraud in government-sponsored insurance schemes. The schemes were sponsored by ICICI Lombard Insurance which was meant for the poor.
These four government-sponsored insurance schemes were :
- Rajiv Gandhi Shilpi Swasthya Bima Yojana,
- Weather Insurance Scheme,
- Shetkari Apghati Durghatana Bima Yojana,
- Panjikrut Kishan Durghatana Bima Yojana and
- Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana.
