Which company launched India's first internet telephony service - BSNL

BSNL has launched first internet telephony service through its mobile app "Wings". Now using this app BSNL customers will able to make call to any phone number (domestic or international). Important to mention here, that before this phone calls were possible within users of particular app not on telephone numbers. But using wings BSNL users can call to any number. Though it requires mobile data or wifi. Customers can make video or audio calls by paying particular fee.

In October 2017, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had refreshed VoIP guidelines, that were approved by Telecom Commission in May 2018. As per new guidelines full fledged telephony telephony was allowed by telecom operators which will enable calls from app to app of licensed service providers as well as on phone numbers. Only authorised licensed holders will be provided with full fledged internet telephony. Means services like Whatsapp, Duo etc will not able to provide this service, as they only allow app to app calling.
