First transparent credit card in India launched by ICICI Bank
Among the important banking Current Affairs in December 2014, On 12th December First credit card with a unique transparent design in India was launched by ICICI Bank in association with American Express and this was card named ICICI Bank Coral American Express Credit Card. Though other features will be like the ordinary opaque cards.
52 new drugs brought under NPPA control by Govt
On 11th December 2014, Union Government made 52 new drugs under National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA). The aim to get drugs under NPPA is to keep check on prices of essential medicines. These drugs includes some commonly used painkillers and antibiotics and also medicines used to treat cancer and skin disorders.
These new drugs join a list of nearly 400 essential treatments which is more than 450 drugs that involve NPPA ceiling and retail prices for these medicines.
Dahi Handi declared as adventurous sport by Maharashtra government
On 12th December 2014, Dahi Handi was declared as an adventurous sport by Maharashtra Government with an aim to make it a safe sport. As you must be aware that Dahi Handi is a traditional sport in Maharashtra which involves making a human pyramid and breaking an earthen pot filled with buttermilk tied at a certain height on the occasion of Janmashtami.
State government will be formulating new rules and safety guidelines prescribed by the state commission and will also be ensuring proper training for the participants and the use of all safety instruments.
Earlier Bombay High Court made 18 years mandatory to participate however Supreme Court had reduced the age limit to 12 years and organizers were told to use proper safety measure at events.
Miss Universal Peace & Humanity 2014 title clinched by Ruhi Singh
On 10th December 2014, Miss Universal Peace & Humanity 2014 title was bagged by Ruhi Singh at Beirut, Lebanon. Thus she became first to won this pageant from India. Also important to mention here that she was Femina Miss India East first runner-up in 2011.
First runner-up was Rebecca Boggiano from Australia and second runner-up was Sofia Alkhadra from Palestine.
