    Who has won the 2015 US Open Men’s Singles title - Novak Djokovic

    Among the important Sports Current Affairs, On 13th September 2015, the US Open Men’s Singles title was won by Novak Djokovic. He has defeated Roger Federer to clinch the title.

    Djokovic has won his second US Open singles title and a 10th Grand Slam singles title.

    In 2015, Djokovic, Federer and Rod Laver are the only men in the Open era to reach all four major finals. His only defeat came in the final of the French Open against Stan Wawrinka of Switzerland.

    Who has won 2015 US Open Women’s Singles title - Flavia Pennetta

    Among the important Sports Current Affairs, On 12th September 2015, Flavia Pennetta won the US Open Women’s Singles title by defeating Italian Roberta Vinci in the final match held in New York.

    It was her first Gran Slam title. After this win, she announced her retirement from the professional tennis after the 2015 season.

    With this she became the second Italian woman to win one of the tennis majors. She joined the 2010 French Open champion Francesca Schiavone who had been the lone member in the club.

    Currently, Pennetta is at the eighth place in the World rankings.

    Who has been conferred with Royal Aeronautical Society Silver Medal - Dr G Satheesh Reddy

    Among the important National Current Affairs, In first week of September 2015, DRDO scientist Dr G Satheesh Reddy has been presented with the Silver Medal of the prestigious Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS).

    He was awraded with this medal for his contributions as one of the leading navigation and avionics experts of the Indian Defense research establishment.

    The award will be presented to him at the Wilbur and Orville Wright Lecture scheduled to be held on 9th December 2015 in the Society's headquarters in London.

    • It is a multidisciplinary professional institution established in 1866 dedicated to the global aerospace community founded by British and is headquartered in London.
    • Since the year 1909, it has been honouring outstanding achievers in the global aerospace industry.
    • Wright Brothers won the very first gold medal in 1909.
    • Since 2004, the society started awarding team medals for exceptional or groundbreaking team work in aeronautical research and development.
    • R P Alston Memorial Prize for developments in flight-testing, the Edward Busk prize for applied aerodynamics, the Wakefield Medal for advances in aviation safety and an Orville Wright Prize are also awarded by the society.

    Where did the 10th World Hindi Conference held - Bhopal

    From 10th to 12th September 2015, The 10th World Hindi Conference was held at the Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

    Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in cooperation with the Government of Madhya Pradesh organised this conference.

    Noted Hindi scholars from across the country and the world attended the conference. They deliberated on 16 aspects for universalisation of Hindi language.

    About World Hindi Conference

    • In 1973, it was deliberated in Wardha of Maharashtra and the first conference was held in Nagpur in 1975.
    • The conference aims to grow the use of the language across the world.

    Among the important Sports Current Affairs, On 13th September 2015, Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis won the US Open Women’s Doubles title.

    They defeated Casey Dellacqua (Kazakhstan) and Yaroslava Shvedova (Kazakhstan) in the summit clash held in New York.

    On 12th September 2015, Martina Hingis also won the Mixed-Doubles title with Leander Paes. Earlier, Sania-Hingis duo also won their maiden title in July 2015 at the Wimbledon in England.

    Name the largest volcano of Japan which has erupted - Mount Aso

    Among the important International Current Affairs, On 14th September 2015, The largest volcano of Japan Mount Aso Volcano erupted. It blasted a plume of black smoke 2-kilometer high and the ashes from the volcano fell up to 4-kilometer away.

    It is one of the most active peaks in Japan and is 1592-metre high and is also a popular hiking spot. It is one of the biggest calderas in the world, encompassing an area 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) north to south and 18 kilometers (11.2 miles) east to west and also the second largest mountain in Japan.

    Since 2014, especially after the eruption of the Mount Ontake in central Japan, the volcanic activity in Japan has increased. It was the Japan’s biggest volcanic disaster in nearly 90 years and had killed 63 people.

    Who is elected as Chairman of Press Trust of India - Hormusji N Cama

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 14th September 2015, Hormusji N Cama with one accord was elected as the new chairman of the Press Trust of India (PTI). He is the Managing Director of the oldest continuously-published newspaper in India from 1855 Bombay Smachar.

    At present, he is the Chairman of the Readership Studies Council of India and has also served as President of the Indian Newspaper Society (INS). He is also on the Board of Council for Fair Business Practices and Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC).

    Apart from him, Riyad Mathew was unopposed elected as the Vice Chairman of the PTI. He is the Director of Malayala Manorama and is a Senior Assistant Editor of the Malayala Manorama, which publishes one of India’s leading weekly magazines, The Week.
