World Kidney Day 2017 observed on - 9th March 2017
On 9th March 2017, World Kidney Day was observed acorss the globe. Theme of World Kidney Day 2017 was Kidney Disease and Obesity: Healthy Lifestyle for Healthy Kidneys. This theme was taken with an aim to raise awareness about harmful consequences of obesity and its association with kidney diseases.
Name of Konkani writer who was honoured with Saraswati Samman 2016 - Mahabaleshwar Sail
On 9th March 2017, Noted Konkani writer Mahabaleshwar Sail was honoured with Saraswati Samman 2016. He was awarded with this prestigious award for his novel Hawthan.
His novel was shortlisted from 22 books written in many languages.

- Saraswati Samman was started in 1991 by KK Birla Foundation and it was named after Goddess Saraswati.
- First ever Saraswati Samman was given to Harivanshrai Bachchan for his Autobiography.
- Mahabaleshwar Sail has wrote 7 Konkani novels, 4 Marathi Dramas and 5 short stories and a novel in Marathi.
- His Novel Hawthan is a well researched book of Fiction which gives deep insights of cultural map of traditional potter community of India.
HCFC Phase Out Management Plan's Stage II was launched by - Union Government
Second stage of HCFC Phase Out Management Plan (HPMP) was launched by Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change (Independent Charge) Anil Madhav Dave. This plan is being implemented with an aim to phase out the use of Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) and harmful ozone-depleting substances (ODS).
Apart from this it also promotes low global warming potential technologies.
