Salesforce acquired analytics platform Tableu on - 11th June 2019
Salesforce, a United States-based Cloud computing organisation, declared acquisition of leading analytics platform Tableau Software on June 11th, 2019. Salesforce accomplished this deal for USD 15.7 billion in an all-stock contract. Salesforce informed in press release that world's #1 CRM and #1 analytics platform come together to boost customers digital transformations.
Major Highlights- Salesforce will play an even greater role in boosting digital transformation with Tableau, enabling firms worldwide to tap into information across their entire business and surface deeper insights to make smarter decisions, drive intelligent, connected customer experiences and accelerate innovation.
- With Tableau and Einstein together, Salesforce will give the most intelligent and intuitive analytics and visualization platform for every section and every user at any organisation.
- Tableau will make both Customer 360 and Salesforce's analytics capabilities sturdier than ever, and enable the organisation to reach a much broader group of customers and subscribers.
- Tableau will work independently under the Tableau brand, driving forward a sustained focus on its mission, clienteles and community.
- As part of the world's #1 CRM organisation, Tableau will continue HQ in Seattle, Wash. and will continue to be headed by CEO Adam Selipsky and the present leadership team.

BJP MP Virendra Kumar to be Pro-tem Speaker of 17th Lok Sabha from - Madhya Pradesh
Virendra Kumar a Bhartiya Janta Party MP from Madhya Pradesh will be the Pro-tem Speaker of the 17th Lok Sabha. 65 years old Virendra Kumar is a 7-term member of Parliament and secured the Lok Sabha elections from Tikamgarh.
He will preside over the 1st sitting of the Lok Sabha as Pro-tem Speaker; also, he will direct the oath of
office to the newly nominated Member of Parliaments. The 1st session of the newly-formed 17th Lok
Sabha will be organised from June 17th to July 26th. The Election for the Lok Sabha Speaker of the is
planned to be organised on June 19th, 2019.
More about Virendra Kumar- Virendra Kumar was nominated to 11th Lok Sabha for the 1st time in 1996 and became the member of Standing Committee on Labour and Welfare.
- He represents the Sagar constituency of Madhya Pradesh between 1996 to 2009.
- Kumar also undergone for a prison sentence of 16 months under Maintenance of Internal Security Act in protest against the imposition of Emergency.
- Later he was re-nominated to the 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th Lok Sabha nonstop. He had
worked as member and Chairmen of various committees. - He was also the Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development and Minority Affairs between September 2017 and May 2019.
Mela Kheer Bhawani celebrated in - J&K
With inauguration of yearly festival of Kheer Bhawani Mela on Zeasht Ashtami, thousands of Kashmiri Pandit devotees prayed at well-known Ragnya Devi temple in J&K’s Ganderbal district. An extravagant security planning was done by Jammu and Kashmir administration so that mela passed off serenely for devotees who packed temple from across the nation.
Key Highlights
- Every year on Zyeshta Ashtami, this year fell on 10th June, hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits visit temple, situated about 14 kms east of Srinagar, to pay their respect. Zyestha Ashtami is observed by Kashmiri Pandits nationwide and outside as the day marks beginning of yearly pilgrimage.
- More than 60000 displaced Kashmiri Pandits from various parts of India and overseas, visited 5
famous temples of Tulmulla, in Ganderbal district, Tikker, in Kupwara, Laktipora Aishmuqam, in
Anantnag and Mata Tripursundri Devsar & Mata Kheerbhawani Manzgam, in Kulgam district, in Kashmir valley during Mela Kheerbhawani.
About Mela Kheer Bhawani - It is one of the biggest religious events of displaced community of Kashmiri Pandits, who drifted from Valley in 1990.
- The devotees carry roses, walk barefoot, offer tribute to goddess and offer milk and kheer at sacred spring.
Formula One Canadian Grand Prix won by - Britain’s Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes
Britain’s Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes won Formula One Canadian Grand Prix 2019 at the Circuit Gilles
Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada. This was Hamilton’s 7th victory on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and now made him equalled Michael Schumacher’s record.
Key Highlights- Lewis Hamilton was followed by Ferrari drivers Sebastian Vettel of Germany in second place and Charles Leclerc of Monaco in third place.
- Hamilton developed victorious following a divisive penalty done by Sebastian Vettel gifted him a
milestone victory. - Sebastian Vettel did an error on the limit and went-off track on lap 48 of circuit, driving across grass before re-joining and forcing off Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton, who well along emerged championship leader and ultimate winner.
- For this, he was hit with a Five-second penalty which ultimately led to his loss.
- The subsequent Grand Prix, is planned to be run in France on June 23 at the Le Castellet raceway. It will be eighth of the 21 that make up world circuit of 2019 FIA Formula One World Championship.
IAAF to rebrand as World Athletics from - October 2019
World athletics’ governing group, the International Association of Athletics Federations will re-brand
itself as World Athletics. The re-branding would be operative from October 2019.
Key Highlights- International Association of Athletics Federations’ new brand individuality as World Athletics will start its rollout in October 2019 subsequent the completion of world championships in Doha, Qatar and following congress endowments approval of modification to federation’s legal name.
- The decision for rebranding of name was approved at International Association of Athletics Federations Council, meeting in Monaco, International Association of Athletics Federations’ HQ.
- The members settled that ‘World Athletics’ made sport more accessible to a wider audience at same time while giving worldwide governing body an opportunity to more clearly interconnect its mission as leader of world’s most participatory sport.
- The council expects that new brand will advantage towards attracting and engaging a new generation of young people to athletics.
- The term World Athletics is assembled upon IAAF’s restructuring and governance reform agenda it has undertaken in last 4 years. It signifies a modern, extra creative and positive face for the sport.

Interim President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, won the nation’s snap Presidential elections with approximately 71 percent. He was also the selected successor of veteran ruler and former leader
Nursultan Nazarbayev.
Important Highlights- After Nursultan Nazarbayev resigned from as Presidential position of Kazakhstan in March 2019, the Presidentship was relocated to the then Speaker of the Senate, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
- Soon following assuming the charge of interim President of Kazakhstan, Tokayev in his address to
country declared that elections would be conducted earlier than expected. - In recently organised snap election, a total of 7 candidates fought for Presidency which also
involved Daniya Yespayeva, the 1st woman candidate to do so in nation’s history. - The voter turnout in elections was 77.4 percent and Tokayev’s nearest rival Amirzhan Kosanov of United National Patriotic Movement got about 16 percent of votes.
- For the 1st time in almost 30 years, the Kazakh presidential elections organised in 2019 formed the way for a new candidate coming to power.
- Tokayev’s predecessor Nursultan Nazarbayev was working as Kazakh President since the independence of nation in 1992 until his resignation in March 2019.
Veteran actor Girish Karnad passed away on - 10th June 2019
The renowned playwright, actor and Jnanpith awardee Girish Karnad passed-away at the age of 81 at his residence in Bengaluru, Karnataka. He surrendered to multiple-organ failure.
To honour the renowned writer who brought 7th Jnanpith to Kannada, Karnataka Government
professed a holiday for schools and colleges and a three-day State mourning as a tribute.
More about Girish Karnad- He was born in May 1938. He became one of the most prominent theatre personalities in period of 1960s &1970s, which was stared as Renaissance of Indian theatre.
- He wrote his 1st play Yayati in 1961 when he was a Rhodes scholar in England. He worked with
mythology, history and gave them a modern resonance in plays like Tughlaq & Hayavadana. - He translated most of his plays himself. His last play was a Kannada play Rakshasa Tangadi, on the Battle of Talikota, which was issued in 2018.
- He made his acting debut in the classic movie- Samskara. He made his name not only in parallel cinema but was also eminent for his roles in mainstream films in multiple languages.
- He directed about 12 films and documentaries in Kannada and Hindi languages.
- He was recipient of Padma Shri in 1974 for his contributions to theatre and Padma Bhushan in 1992, in recognition of his contributions to arts. He was also bestowed Jnanpith Award in 1998.
