    Six more Indians qualify for - Rio Olympics

    Among Important Sports Current Affairs, on 11 July 2016 six Indians have qualified for the Rio Olympics. 

    Names include are Renjith Maheswary, Anirban Lahiri, Dharambir Singh, Jinson Johnson, Shiv Shankar Prasad Chawrasia and Aditi Ashok. 

    Rio Olympics is going to be start from 5 August to 21 August 2016.

    Know About Rio Olympics 2016-

    Rio 2016, is known to be a major international multi-sport event in the tradition of the Olympic Games, which is going to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. 

    This year in Olympic, more than 10,500 athletes from 206 National Olympic Committees (NOCs), including first time entrants Kosovo and South Sudan, are scheduled to take part.

    Union Government launches Intensified - Diarrhoea Control Fortnight

    Among Important National Current Affairs, The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has finally launched a nationwide Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) to check child diarrhoeal deaths. 

    Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare J P Nadda have launched the IDCF drive,  in New Delhi. It will be observed from 11th to 23rd July, 2016 across the country.

    Which two countries signed seven agreements to deepen cooperation - India, Kenya

    Among Important International Current Affairs, on 11th July 2016 India and Kenya signed total seven agreements to enhance cooperation and bilateral relations between the two countries.

    These agreements were inked during PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Kenya, which was from 10 July to 11 July 2016. Modi visited the country on an invitation of President Uhuru Kenyatta. This was the first at the level of Prime Minister in 35 years.

    However, from 7th July to 11th July 2016 Modi was on a four nation visit to Africa namely Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa and Mozambique.

    Who is appointed as CMD of Konkan Railway Corporation Limited - Sanjay Gupta

    Sanajy Gupta - CMD Konkan Railway Among Important National Current Affairs, on 8th July 2016 Sanjay Gupta has been appointed as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL).

    Since 30th September 2013, Sanjay Gupta had been working as Director (Operating & Commercial) of Konkan Railway. After the retirement of B P Tayal, he had also been officiating as the CMD since 24 November 2015.

    India’s first Centre of Excellence on Internet of Things launched in – Bengaluru

    NASSCOM, which is known as the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) have launched India’s first Centre of Excellence on Internet of Things (CoE– IoT) in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

    This centre was launched at NASSCOM’s Startup Warehouse in Bengaluru to encourage start-ups to come up with tech solutions centred on Internet of Things (IoT).

    President confered 51st Jnanpith Award to - Dr. Raghuveer Chaudhari

    Raghuvir_Chaudhari On 11th July 2016, President Pranab Mukherjee conferred the 51st Jnanpith Award on renowned Gujarati writer Dr. Raghuveer Chaudhari at Parliament Library Building, New Delhi. He was awarded with the India's highest literary honour for the year 2015.

    He has been awarded with a cash prize, a citation plaque and a bronze replica of Goddess Saraswati.

    After this, he became the fourth Gujarati literary artist to receive the prestigious award. The other Gujarati recipients of the award are poet Umashankar Joshi (1967), novelist Pannalal Patel (1985) and poet Rajendra Shah (2001).
