World Population Day 2014 observed across the globe
On 11th July 2014, World Population Day was observed across the globe. The theme of World Population Day 2014 was Investing in Young People. World Population Day is observed to bring awareness to people about importance of small families and living healthy lives. The day is celebrated with several programs that are initiated to educate people about family planning methods.
World population day was first celebrated in 1987, the day when world population reached five billion people.
Minister of Railways D.V. Sadananda Gowda launched Social Media Platform for Indian Railways
On 7th July 2014, The Minister of Railways, Shri D.V.Sadananda Gowda launched Social Media Platform for the Indian Railways. It includes launching of twitter, facebook etc. The launch of Social Media Platform is the endeavour of Indian railways to use social media as a platform to tell its stories and constantly hear from fellow travelers.
The new initiative of railways joining social media will add to the technology development of India and transparent.
This unique 360 degree platform will help Indian Railways to listen, and gauge valuable feedback from its fellow travelers. He said that the use of social media has been the forte of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi led NDA Government that leads to transparency and quick information dissemination.
He said that the Ministry believes that Indian Railways serves the whole breadth and diverse cross section of Indians with or without internet connection. Being a progressive and transparent institution we are delighted to extend its presence on social media.
Mars orbiter spacecraft to reach target in 75 days
Exactly 75 days from 12th July 2014, India's Mars spacecraft is scheduled for a rendezvous with the red planet Mars. Indian Space Research Organisation said, Mars Orbiter Spacecraft has travelled 525 million km on its heliocentric arc. Radio signals from earth now take 15 minutes to reach MOM and return.
Important to Note :
The ambitious Mars mission under a Rs 450 crore project was launched from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh onboard the Pollar Satellite Launch Vehicle on 5th November 2014 with an aim to reach the Mars atmosphere by September 24.
