President Ram Nath Kovind gives approval to Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill on - 9th August 2019
President Ram Nath Kovind gave his approval to the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019 on August 9th, 2019. The Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was approved by the Rajya Sabha on July 31st, 2019. The bill was approved in the upper house with 3 key modifications so it had to be forward back to the Lok Sabha for approval.
The initiated modifications goals to improve road safety and assist residents in their dealings with transport departments. The modifications also goal to fortify rural transport, public transport and last mile connectivity via automation, computerization and online services.
Important Features of the Bill- The Motor Vehicle (amendment) Bill 2019 modifies the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 to tackle issues like regulation of taxi aggregators, third party insurance and road safety.
- This Bill seeks maximum accountability for third party insurance in case of a vehicle accident at Rs
10 lakh in case of death and Rs. 5 Lakh in case of grievous injury. - This bill also defines guidelines for cabs that will be finalized by central government.
- Motor Vehicle (amendment) Bill promotes the digitalization of some specific services. For example
services including Issue of licenses/permits, application filing procedure, receipt of money including fines, and modification of address. - The Bill authorized state governments to ensure the electronic monitoring and enforcement of road
safety on national highways, state highways, and urban roads.
The Bill also modifies the compensation and insurance provisions in case of motor vehicle accidents.
Shillong Declaration on e-Governance adopted at - NCeG 2019
The 22nd National Conference on e-Governance-2019 effectively concluded at Shillong, capital of Meghalaya with the adoption of ‘Shillong Declaration’ on e-Governance.
More about Conference- It was held by Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Ministry of Personnel and Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, in association with Government of Meghalaya held from 8th-9th August 2019.
- Its theme was ‘Digital India: Success to Excellence’. On side-lines of this conference, a display was also held during the programme to showcase India’s accomplishments in the field of e-Governance.

4th edition of National Entrepreneurship Awards 2019 declared by - Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship
Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship declared 4th edition of National Entrepreneurship Awards 2019 with motives to honour outstanding young first-generation tycoons as well as ecosystem builders for their exceptional involvement in entrepreneurship development. They will reward the most innovative, inspirational and talented micro tycoons to scale up their business.
More about National Entrepreneurship Awards- These yearly awards have been introduced by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship to honour outstanding young 1st-generation tycoons and ecosystem builders for their exceptional
involvement in entrepreneurship development. - The awards pursue to instil and establish entrepreneurial attitude among the future generations and the Youth of India.
Categories
- There are sum of 45 specially intended awards to be awarded 39 Enterprise Awards and 6 Awards for Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Builders.
Eligibility
To be qualified for these awards, the entrepreneur must be
(i) Under the age of 40 years
(ii) 1st-generation entrepreneurs
(iii) Hold 51 percent/above equity and ownership of business and women applicants
exclusively/collectively owning 75 percent/above of the enterprise.
Winners will be bestowed with Trophy, Certificate and Cash Prize of Rupees 5 lakh enterprises or

NITI Aayog initiated 4th edition of Women Transforming India Awards. Recommendations for the awards will be opened instantly following the launch. The theme for present year’s award is “Women and Entrepreneurship”, in continuation of the theme for Women Transforming India Awards 2018. WhatsApp has cooperated with NITI Aayog for Women Transforming India Awards 2019 and will be providing support amounting to USD 100000 to award winners.
