Name of the Indian-American who became First Female Postmaster of Sacramento - Jagdeep Grewal

 On 3rd September 2015, Jagdeep Grewal became first woman postmaster of Sacramento city in California. She is an Indian-American and became first ever female postmaster of Sacramento  in 166 years of its history.

She has been working with US Postal Service for many years now as she started working as a window clerk in 1988 with US Postal Service.

National Web Portal for Apprenticeship Training was launched by - Union HRD Ministry

Among the National Current Affairs, On 10th September 2015, Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani launched National Web Portal of National Apprenticeship Scheme for Graduates, Diploma holders and 10+2 pass-outs vocational certificate holders.

Slogan for this portal is "Sashakt Yuva, Samarth Bharat".

This portal will be useful in saving time for students apart from giving them door step service. User can interact with this portal in Marathi, Bengali, Tamil and Hindi.

Where was Global Investors Meet 2015 held - Tamil Nadu

On 9th September 2015, Global Investors Meet 2015 was held in Tamil Nadu to woo investors to invest in the state. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa inaugurated this meet at the Chennai Trade Centre. This meet was organised with an aim to get investment commitment of 1 lakh crore rupees.

It was two day meet from 9th September to 10th September 2015 which was attended by more than 5000 delegates including delegates from foreign.

Nine countries registered themselves as partner nations for this mega investment event.

Important to mention here that from this meet Tamil Nadu attracted investments worth more than 2 Lakh 42 thousand Crore rupees. More investment was in strong areas of manufacturing and energy sectors. Major players like MRF Ltd, Apollo Tyres, HCL, Mahindra & Mahindra, Yamaha and more will be investing in state.

Balkrishna Wasnik passed away, he was - Former Member of Parliament

Senior Congress Leader and former Member of Parliament Balkrishna Ramchandra Wasnik died on 10 September 2015 following cardiac arrest. He was 86. He was father of All India Congress Committee General Secretary and Former Union Minister Mukul Wasnik.

Ramaswamy R Iyer passed away, he was - Renowned water policy expert

On 9th September 2015, Noted water policy expert Ramaswamy R Iyer passed away at the age of 86. 

His last held position was that of an honorary research professor at the Centre for Policy Research. Prior to that, Iyer served as Secretary of Water Resources in the central government as an officer of the Indian Audit and Accounts Service. 

In 1987 he was among the brains in drafting India's first National Water Policy. He was also honoured with Padma Shri in 2014.

Name of Indian Cricket player who became co-owner of IPTL's franchise UAE Royals - Virat Kohli

Among Important Sports Current Affairs, On 10th September 2015, Test cricket captain of India, Virat Kohli became co owner of IPTL  team UAE Royals. Tennis ace Roger Federer will be leading this team.

Which Indian state became first to submit Annual Action Plan under Atal Mission (AMRUT) - Rajasthan

On 11th September 2015, Rajasthan became first  Indian state to submit State Annual Action Plan AMRUT. Rajasthan has targeted universal coverage in respect of water supply connections, sewerage connections and urban transport to all urban households in the state. 

For the implementation of State Annual Action Plan, the state government will be introducing mandatory reforms. These include creation of website for each city, transfer of all 18 functions to urban local bodies, revision of building bye-laws, single window clearance for building permissions, 90% coverage of tax revenue, energy and water audit and migration to double entry accounting system will be implemented in the next 6 to 12 months.
