    N-capable Agni-I missile successfully test fired by Strategic Force Command of India

    On 11th September 2014, Nuclear capable Agni-I missile was successfully test-fired by Strategic Force Command. This has a strike range of 700 km and was tested from a test range at Odisha coast. This is a surface to surface single stage missile.

    Agni-I missile weighs 12 tonnes and is approx 15 metre long. It can carry payloads up to 1000 kg and is already a part of Indian Army.

    Senior IAS Officer Subhash Chandra Garg appointed as Executive Director of World Bank

    On 10th September 2014,  Senior IAS officer Mr. Subhash Chandra Garg was appointed as the Executive Director of World Bank. Mr. Subhash Chandra Garg will be having a tenure of three years.

    Mr. Subhash Chandra Garg is a 1983-batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre. 

    Richard Kiel who played Iconic Villain Jaws in James Bond passed away at 74

    On 10th September 2014, Actor Richard Kiel who played Iconic Villain Jaws in two James Bond's films passed away. He was 74 years old. 

    Noted Bangladeshi Nazrul Sangeet singer Firoza Begum passed away

    On 9th September 2014, Noted Bangladeshi Nazrul Sangeet singer Firoza Begum passed away at the age of 84.

    She made Nazrul Sangeet very popular and was also best known for singing Nazrul Sangeet. Nazrul Sangeet is a musical work composed by Bengali poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. She lived in Kolkata till 1954 and moved to Dhaka in 1967.

    Pakistani bowler Saeed Ajmal suspended for illegal bowling action

    On 9th September 2014, The International Cricket Council (ICC) suspended off-spinner of Pakistan Saeed Ajmal. 

    The independent analysis was done at the National Cricket Center in Brisbane on 25 August 2014 after which decision of his suspension was taken. He was suspended as his deliveries exceeded the 15 degrees level of tolerance.

    Transgenders recognised as third gender by Bihar Government

    On 9th September 2014, Bihar government recognised eunuch and transgender as third gender. This was done to extend the quota benefit as eunuch and transgender were declared as backward class annexure II category.

    Union Government cleared stake sale in CIL, ONGC, NHPC

    On 10th September 2014, The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by PM Narendra Modi approved the disinvestment of the stake of CIL, ONGC and NHPC. This was done to garner a 43 thousand crore rupees.

    Disinvestment of 10 percent stake of CIL, 5 percent of ONGC and 11.36 percent in NHPC was cleared by CCEA.

    Cardless Cash Withdrawal services lauched by ICICI

    On 10th September 2014, ICICI launched a Cardless Cash Withdrawal service for its customers, by using it customers can transfer money from their account and the recipient can withdraw without a debit card. Security codes will be sent to their mobiles by using them transaction can be completed without using debit card etc.
