RIL announced to sell 49 percent stake to Chinese firm Shandong Ruyi in Textile Business
On 9th December 2014, Reliance Industries (RIL) announced to sell 49 percent stake in the textiles business to Chinese textile firm Shandong Ruyi Science and Technology Group. Under the brand name VIMAL RIL operates its existing textile business and this textile business is located at Naroda near Ahmedabad.
In Western Ghats new Nine species of bush frogs discovered
Scientists from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore discovered new nine species of bush frogs in Western Ghats, which was published in international journal Zootaxa. All the nine species of bush frogs belong to the genus Raorchestes frogs, which are distributed across the Western Ghats. Some of these discovered frogs are tiny as a thumbnail while other are brightly coloured or plain slimy.
HyunChil Hong appointed as President of Southwest Asia by Samsung
On 10th December 2014, HyunChil Hong was appointed as President of Southwest Asia Headquarters Samsung Electronics Ltd and he will be taking the charge with immediate effect. Before his appointment B D Park was serving at this post who be heading Sales & Marketing for Digital Appliances Business at the headquarters in South Korea.
Creation of five posts of ASG at High Courts approved by Union Cabinet
On 10th December 2014, Union Cabinet approved the creation of five posts of Additional Solicitors General (ASG), one each for the High Courts of Punjab & Haryana, Patna, Jharkhand, Karnataka and its Circuit Benches at Hubli-Dharwad & Gulbarga and Gujarat.
Cabinet meet chaired by PM Narendra Modi took this decision which will be helping in strengthening the litigation machinery to represent the Union Government efficiently and effectively as a whole and specifically in these courts.
Kailash Satyarthi and Malala Yousafzai received Nobel Peace Prize for the year 2014
On 10th December 2014, Indian Child rights campaigner Kailash Satyarthi and Pakistani Education activist Malala Yousafzai received the Nobel Peace Prize for the year 2014. Kailash Satyarthi and Malala Yousafzai received medals and prize money 1.4 million US dollars from the Norwegian Nobel Committee at Oslo, Norway.
They were honoured for their struggle against the suppression of children and young people and for the right of all children to education.

- Nobel Prize in Literature - French author Patrick Modiano,
- Nobel Prize in Physics - Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano and Shuji Nakamura,
- Nobel Prize in Chemistry - Eric Betzig, Stefan Hell and William E. Moerner,
- Nobel Prize in Economics - Jean Tirole.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on India Visit
Russian President Vladimir Putin is on official visit to India and during his visit Russia has signed deals to build nuclear power plants in India and supply it with oil.
Apart from this several other deals were signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi after talks in New Delhi on 11th December.
As per agreement, Russian state nuclear company Rosatom and the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) will construct 10 more reactors for nuclear power plants in India. Also Russian firm Rosneft and India's ESSAR signed a preliminary agreement under which Russia could ship some 10 million tons of oil to India during the next decade.
