    Mission extension for Juno  approved by - NASA

    NASA sanctioned an extension of Juno’s science operations until July 2021. This delivers the space probe with an extra 41 months in orbit around Jupiter. The conclusion was taken after an independent panel of experts established in April that Juno is on track to attain its science aims and is already sending spectacular results. The spacecraft and all its instruments were described to be in good health and operating nominally. The spacecraft will complete its 2 years anniversary of being in the orbit of Jupiter in July 2018.
    Significance

    • The postponement of its operations will permit Juno to attain its primary science purposes.
    • The larger orbits will also permit the researchers to further discover the far reaches of the Jovian
      magnetosphere, the region of space subjugated by Jupiter's magnetic field including the southern magnetosphere and the magnetospheric borderline region known as the magnetopause.
      Key Highlights
    • NASA has now sponsored Juno through FY 2022. The spacecraft was imagined to finish its mission by deafening into the atmosphere of Jupiter in July this year.
    • The end of major operations is now supposed to be in July 2021, with data analysis and mission closing events ongoing into 2022.
    • The spacecraft is in 53 days orbits in place of fourteen days orbits as originally intentional due to the reason of valves on the fuel system of spacecraft.
    • The longer the orbit the maximum time it will take to gather the required scientific information.

    Upward revision of pension to meritorious sportspersons  approved by - Sports ministry

    Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Rajyavardhan Rathore has sanctioned the ascendant revision of pension to meritorious players. Under the reviewed rates, the pension amount has been double-folded from the present pension amount on securing medals in international sports programmes.
    The revised pension rates are as follows:
    The medal-winner at the Olympic or Para-Olympic Games will now receive Rupees 20,000, double from earlier Rs 10000 every month.
    The gold medal winners at World Cup or World Championship in Olympic and Asian Games disciplines will receive Rupees 16,000, which is also double from past Rupees 8,000 every month.
    The silver and bronze medallist in Asian Games or Commonwealth Games or Para Asian Games will receive Rupees 12,000.

    Other Details

    • The rate of pension of medal winners in the Para-Olympics Games/Para Asian Games will be according to the medallist in the Olympic Games/Asian Games respectively.
    • The World Championships organised single time in 4 years will only be measured for the pension.
      In the case of present pensioners, the amendment in the rate of pension will be effective from April 1 st , 2018.
    • Under the reviewed scheme, it is lime-lighted that the player should retire from active sports career and be achieving the age of 30 years at the time of smearing pension under the scheme.
    • An undertaking to this will have to be submit by the players in the application form itself and the similar has to be verified from Sports Authority of India while submitting application for verification of achievements of the applicant.

    India and Norway sign MoU to extend health cooperation through NIPI on - 8th June 2018

    Ministry of Health and Family Welfare inked a contract with the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
    Government of Norway on June 8 th , 2018, to outspread the collaboration withinhealthcare via
    theNIPI for a time period of3-year from2018 to 2020.

    India and Belgium gears up to celebrate International Yoga Day on - 21st June 2018

    India,Belgium, and the European Union are mutually planning few events to observe the fourth
    International Yoga Day, in the Belgian capital and across the nation. Therefore, on June 21 st 2018, the Indian Embassy, Brussels, in cooperation with the European Parliament and the Art of Living Foundation, and on June 24 th 2018 in partnership with the Ministry of Housing, Environment, and Energy of the Brussels Capital Region Government, the City of Brussels and Vidonne Asbl will arrange events on Yoga.

    • At the European Parliament, a superior yoga session will be organised on June 21 st 2018 from 12-1.30 pm at the Yehudi Menuhin Space.
