    Where did the 41st G7 summit held - Germany

    Among the important International Current Affairs, On 7th June 2015, 41st G7 Summit 2015 was held at Schloss Elmau in Bavaria, Germany on the theme "Think Ahead. Act Together".

    The Summit concentrated on key issues regarding environment, security, foreign and development policy as well as the global economy. Further, the UN conferences to be held in 2015 as well as the post-2015 agenda and the issues of sanctions against Russia were also discussed.

    The G7 Summit 2015 was conscious on following issues-

    • Preservation of the marine governance and marine environment and resources.
    • Neglected and poverty-related diseases, Antibiotic resistanceand Ebola.
    • Retail and supply chain standards.
    • Certification of women by giving vocational training.

    The Summit was attended by all the seven members’ viz., the United States, Japan, France, Canada, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom and the European Commission (EC).

    Who is appointed as the non-executive chairman of ICICI Bank - MK Sharma

    Among the important appointments, On 9th June 2015, ICICI Bank appointed Mahendra Kumar Sharma as the non-executive chairman replacing KV Kamath.

    Sharma’s appointment is subject to the prior approval of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), other regulatory approvals and would be effective from 1st July 2015 or the date of receipt of RBI approval.

    Sharma is an independent director of several leading companies and has been a member of government committees relating to corporate governance and corporate law. Presently, he is the director of two subsidiaries of the bank, namely ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company and ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company.

    Name the scheme launched by AMC for Public Toilet Users - USE and GET PAID scheme

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 9th June 2015, USE and GET PAID scheme was launched by Ahmadabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), under which one rupees will be paid to people for using public toilets. The scheme looks to eliminate the practice of open excretion and will help to keep the city clean.

    According to the AMC health officer, corporation will identify people who defecate in open and sensitise them to use public toilets and pay to those people only.

    After the corporation indentified 120 spots in the city where people used to excrete in the open it was decided to launch the scheme.

    Who has acquired CPL T20 team Trinidad & Tobago - Shah Rukh Khan

    Among the important Sports Current Affairs, On 9th June 2015, Shah Rukh Khan, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) co-owner acquired Carribean Premier League (CPL) T20 team Trinidad & Tobago (T&T).

    Shah Rukh Khan is the first to own an overseas cricket franchise. KKR co-owners Juhi Chawla and her husband Jay Mehta along with Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt Ltd invested in the T&T franchise.

    CPL franchises are already owned by Hollywood stars Mark Wahlberg and Gerard Butler. Reigning champions Barbados Tridents, led by Kieron Pollard is owned by Wahlberg, while Jamaica Tallawahs, captained by Chris Gayle is owned by Butler.

    Name the campaign launched by Bihar to produce Bihar@2025 vision document - Badh Chala Bihar

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 9th June 2015, to collate ideas from the public to produce Bihar@2025, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar launched a campaign called Badh Chala Bihar in Patna. It depicts a vision document on state’s development between 2015 and 2025.

    Features of the campaign

    • To ensure public participation in policy making.
    • It will evoke people views; motivate them to tell about their issues, and what they want in education, electricity, health, employment and other sectors of development.
    • Its objective is to reach out to 4 crore people residing in 40000 villages of the state, including 10000 government and civil society members over the next eight to 10 weeks.
    • It is considered as the world's largest campaign for participatory agenda through massive engagement of citizens.
    • All the opinions and suggestions gathered as part of the campaign will be documented and included to prepare Bihar@2025.

    Where did the Indian Basketball Players Association launched - New Delhi

    On 8th June 2015, Indian Basketball Players Association (IBPA) started functioning with the official launch of it at Indian Medical Association, New Delhi.

    The organizational strucuture of IBPA is as follows:

    Cross-border operation against militants was carried out by Indian Army in - Myanmar

    Among the important National Current Affairs, On 9th June 2015, Special Forces of the Indian Army in coordination with the Air Force carried out surgical operations (cross-border operation) inside Myanmar to target militant groups.

    About 50 militants of groups namely KYKL and NSCN (kiss) hiding along the Nagaland-Myanmar and Manipur-Myanmar border were killed in this first-of-its-kind cross-border operation.

    On 4th June 2015, after militant groups killed 18 jawans of 6 Dogra Regiment of Indian Army in an ambush in Chandel district of Manipur, the move for such a surgical operation was taken.

    Who has agreed to acquire DLF's DT Cinemas - PVR Ltd

    On 9th June 2015, PVR Ltd, agreed to acquire DLF's DT Cinemas for 500 crore rupees. The acquisition of the cinema exhibition business of DLF Utilities ltd was approved by the board of directors of the company at its meeting.

    This deal is part of DLF's strategy to cut huge debt of over 20000 crore rupees and exit non-core businesses. DT Cinemas is the wholly-owned subsidiary of DLF group .

    It has a seating capacity of more than 6000 and 29 screens, while on the other hand PVR Cinemas has 467 screens in 43 cities in 105 properties.

    Who is appointed as Director of CSIR-IICT - Dr. Srivari Chandrasekhar

    Among the important appointments, On 9th June 2015, Dr. Srivari Chandrasekhar was appointed as the Director of Hyderabad-based CSIR-Institute of Chemical Technology (IICT). The appointment was made by the President of the CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research), Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

    Currently he is working as a Chief Scientist at the IICT. He has made remarkable benefaction in the field of synthesis of active natural products, pharmaceutical products and organic chemistry.

    He is an associate of all the three science academies of the country including Indian National Science Academy, Indian Academy of Sciences and National Academy of Sciences.

    Technologies for Asenapine, anti-depressive compound, sertraline and anti-tuberculosis drug, etc. has also been invented by him.
