Human Rights Day 2017 observed globally on - 10th December 2017
The Human Rights Day was observed across the world on 10th December 2017 with the theme 'Let’s stand up for equality, justice and human dignity'.
The celebrations of the Day of this year witnessed the launch of a year-long campaign '#Standup4humanrights' marking the upcoming 70th anniversary of the 'Universal Declaration of Human Rights'.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a milestone document that proclaimed the rights which everyone is entitled to as a human being,irrespective of the race, sex, language, colour, religion, political opinion, national origin, property, birth or other status.
The Declaration sets out universal values and a common standard of achievement for all people and all countries.
It is the most translated document in the world, available in over 500 languages.Did you know?

International Anti-Corruption Day 2017 observed globally on - 9th December 2017
The International Anti-Corruption Day was observed across the globe. The theme of this day was 'United against corruption for development, peace and security' on 9th December 2017.
This year UNODC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime) and UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) have developed a joint global campaign, which is mainly targeting on how corruption affects justice, democracy, prosperity, education, health and development.
The 2017 joint international campaign focuses on corruption as one of the hindrance in order to achieve the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).
Every year USD 1 trillion is paid in bribes while an estimated amount of USD 2.6 trillion are stolen through corruption, which is a sum equivalent to above 5 percent of the global GDP. In developing countries, funds lost to corruption are approximately 10 times the amount of official development assistance.

- On 31st October 2003, the UN General Assembly adopted the United Nations Convention against Corruption and requested to designate the UNODC as secretariat for the Convention’s Conference of States Parties.
- In 2005, this Convention entered into force.
