Which country successfully launches space junk collector into orbit – Japan
Among Important International Current Affairs, Japan’s space agency (JAXA) has successfully launched a Kounotori 6 (HTV-6) spacecraft that will deliver a large magnetic tether, a space junk collector technology into orbit.
However, the spacecraft was launched on board of H-IIB rocket from Tanegashima Space Center.
Here, it was also carrying essential supplies for International Space Station (ISS).
President Pranab Mukherjee presents which two awards to master craftspersons - Shilp Guru Awards, National Awards
Among Important National Current Affairs, on 9th December 2016 President Pranab Mukherjee has presented the two awards i.e. Shilp Guru Awards and National Awards to master craftspersons for the year 2015 at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
However, the recipient of the award included nine Shilp Gurus and 19 National Awardees.
Here, the awards are given in recognition of excellent craftsmanship and the major role played by them in continuing craft as a vital part of the traditional heritage.
On 10th December, 2016 which day is observed across the world - Human Rights Day
Among Important International Current Affairs, on 10th December 2016 The Human Rights Day was observed across the world.
This day is celebrated with an aim to promote and raise the awareness of the two Covenants of Human Rights Day. They are: International Covenant on Economic Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).
However, for the year 2016 the day calls on everyone to stand up for someone's rights. To commemorate the day, a campaign "Stand up for someone's rights today” was launched to encourage, support and amplify what one does in one’s everyday life to defend human rights.
Recommendations of Ratan Watal Committee for - Digital Payments
Among Important National Current Affairs, the Committee on Digital Payments is headed by Ratan P. Watal, who has submitted its final report to the Union Finance Ministry.
Although it was 11-member committee notified in August 2016 by the Finance Ministry.
However, it was tasked mainly to review existing payment systems in the country and recommend appropriate measures for encouraging Digital Payments.
Here, it was having representatives from Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), tax department and various industry bodies in the payments space.
