Niryat Mitra mobile app launched by - Suresh Prabhu
ON 8th August 2018, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Suresh Prabhu launched "Niryat Mitra" App in New Delhi. Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) has developed this app. This app provides all information required for international trade from the policy provisions for export and import, applicable GST rate, available export incentives, tariff and market access requirements. By using this App user can get all information about HS code of other countries which is required for export or import. In total data of 87 countries has been added in this app.
Khangchendzonga biosphere reserve of Sikkim added to - UNESCO list
One of the highest ecosystems in the world, Khangchendzonga Biosphere Reserve (Sikkim, India) has been added to UNESCO's list of World Network of Biosphere Reserve (WNBR). Thus Khangchendzonga Biosphere Reserve became 11th internationally designated WNBR. Important to mention here that Nandadevi, Simlipal, Sunderbans and Nilgiri biospheres of India are already in list.
Khangchendzonga Biosphere Reserve is named after Kangchenjunga mountain. Kangchenjunga mountain is 8,586 metres (28,169 ft) in height, which makes it third highest peak of the world.
Who has been elected as Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha - Harivansh Narayan Singh
On 9th August 2018, Harivansh Narayan Singh from JDU was elected as new deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha. After the retirement of PJ Kurie (Congress MP from Kerala) in June 2018, this post was lying vacant.
Total strength of the Rajya Sabha is 244 and candidate required to get 123 members support. Harivansh Narayan Singh got 125 votes.
Harivansh Narayan Singh is first time MP who is a veteran journalist representing Bihar. He was born in 30th June 1956 in Balia, Uttar Pradesh. He is a post graduate in Economics from Banaras Hindu University.
76th anniversary of Quit India movement observed across - India
On 8th August 2018, 76th anniversary of Quit India movement was observed across India. In 1942 on this day, Mahatma Gandhi started this movement with a famous call "Do or Die". This movement is also famous with the name of August Kranti Diwas. It was launched at the Bombay session of the All-India Congress Committee (AICC), at the height of the Second World War.
