IBPS SO ( Specialist Officer ) Exam - Syllabus, Eligibility and Exam Pattern
Updated : 12-Jun-2017IBPS conduct the examination for the Specialist Officer for various Banks covering almost all of the cities across different states in India. IBPS Department Schedule Specialist Officer exam in the month of February. The online Registration process of SO Exam still in the process for the upcoming session has been started.
SO Exam is conducted in two steps – Common Written Exam (CWE- Preliminary and Mains) and Interview. Candidates are required to qualify in both the tests. This Cadre of SO includes the recruitment of different profile posts like IT Officer, Agricultural Field Officer, Rajbhasha Adhikari, Law Officer, HR Officer, and Marketing Officer.
CWE (Preliminary) Exam
It is an objective type exam with 200 multiple choice questions. Syllabus pattern is on the following topics-
• Reasoning
• English Language
• General Awareness
• Professional Knowledge
Candidates have to qualify in each of the topic with minimum passing marks set by the board to qualify further for the Interview. Exam duration is 1 hour.
Syllabus
Quantitative Aptitude (QA) –
Arithmetic and Data Interpretation. It basically checks dealing with numbers, viz. computation, quantitative reasoning, interpretation of tables and graphs.
General Awareness –
It covers all about the Current Affairs and especially with reference to Banking Industry. Major topics are from Indian Economy Questions for IBPS, International Economy, UNO, Marketing, Indian Constitution, Awards & Honors Sports, Finance, Agriculture, etc. History of Banking, current affairs of last six months, countries/currencies, Books & Their Authors, Banking Terms, RBI Questions for IBPS, Fiscal-Monetary Policies, etc., Social Function of Banks.
Professional Knowledge-
Professional Knowledge Syllabus of IBPS Exam topics is different for all posts such as IT Officer, Law Officer, Chartered Accountant, etc. Topics are Data Base Management System (DBMS), Data Communication & Networking, Operating System and its functions, Computer organization + Hardware (Microprocessor), Software Engineering, data Structure, Web Technologies and Programming Languages Basic, etc.

Eligibility Criteria
•For IT Officer (Scale I) :- Candidates must have completed 4 year Engineering Degree in Computer Science / Computer Applications/ Information Technology / Electronics / Electronics & Telecommunications / Electronics & Communication / Electronics & Instrumentation.
OR
Post Graduate Degree in Electronics / Electronics & Tele Communication / Electronics & Communication / Electronics & Instrumentation / Computer Science / Information Technology/ Computer Applications.
OR
Graduate having passed DOEACC ‘B’ level.
•For Agricultural Field Officer (Scale I): Candidates must have completed 4 year Degree (graduation) in Agriculture / Horticulture /Animal Husbandry / Veterinary Science / Dairy Science / Agriculture Engineering / Fishery Science/ Pisciculture / Agri Marketing & Cooperation / Co-operation & Banking/ Agro-Forestry.
•For Rajbhasha Adhikari (Scale I): Candidates must have Post Graduate Degree in Hindi with English as a subject at the degree (graduation) level OR Post graduate degree in Sanskrit with English and Hindi as subjects at the degree (graduation) level.
•For Law Officer (Scale I): A Bachelor Degree in Law (LLB) and enrolled as an advocate with Bar Council.
•For HR/Personnel Officer (Scale I): Graduate and Regular Post Graduate degree or Regular Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management / Industrial Relations/ HR/HRD/ Social Work / Labor Law.
•For Marketing Officer (Scale I): Graduation and Full-time MBA (Marketing) / Full time two years PGDBA/ PGDBM with specialization in Marketing.
Also, participating candidates must be between the age of 20-30 years only.
