Question Detail
Check which among following are required to answer this questions :
Three friends started a businesss, let there names are A, B and C. What profit B will get, if,
1. C invested Rs. 8000 for nine months, his profit was 3/2 times that of B's and his investment was four times that of A.
2. A and B invested for one year in the proportion 1 : 2 respectively.
3. The three together got Rs. 1000 as profit at the year end.
- Only 1 and 3
- Only 1 and 2
- All 1, 2 and 3
- None of above
Answer: Option C
Explanation:
We will require all the statements to answer this question,
1 and 2 will give :
C = Rs. (8000 x 9) for 1 month = Rs. 72000 for 1 month.
A = Rs. (1/4 * 8000 * 12 ) for 1 month = Rs 24000 for 1 month
B = Rs 48000 for one month
C:A:B = 72000 : 24000 : 48000 = 3 : 1 : 2
From 3, we will get total Profit = 1000
Now from the ratio and total profit we can get Share of C.
C share will be = 1000 * 2/6 = 333 (1/3)
1. A,B and C enter into a partnership investing Rs 35000, Rs 45000 and 55000. Find the their respective shares in annual profit of 40,500
- 10500, 13500, 19500
- 10500, 13500, 18500
- 10500, 13500, 17500
- 10500, 13500, 16500
Answer: Option D
Explanation:
A:B:C = 35000:45000:55000 = 7:9:11
A's share = (7/27) *40500 = Rs 10500
B's share = (9/27) *40500 = Rs 13500
C's share = (11/27)*40500 = Rs 16500
[In options we can see that only salary of C is different in all options. So we cn just calculate the C share to solve question quickly :) ]
2. Rahul and Bharti are partners in a business. Rahul contributes 1/4th capital for 15 months and Bharti received 2/3 of profit. For how long Bharti money was used.
- 8 months
- 10 months
- 11 months
- 17 months
Answer: Option B
Explanation:
Let the total profit be Rs. Z
Bharti's share = (2/3)Z
Rahul's Share = Z-(2/3)Z = Z/3
Rahul:Bharti = Z/3:(2/3)Z = 1:2
Now let the total capital be Rs X, and Bharti capital was used for Y months
then, Rahul capital will be (1/4)X and Bharti capital wil be X-(1/4)X = 3X/4
\begin{aligned}
\frac{\frac{1}{4}X*15}{\frac{3}{4}X*Y}= \frac{1}{2} \\
Y = \frac{15*2}{3} = 10
\end{aligned}
So Bharti's money was used for 10 months
3. In business, A and C invested amounts in the ratio 2:1, whereas the ratio between amounts invested by A and B was 3:2, If Rs 157300 was their profit, how much amount did B receive.
- Rs 48000
- Rs 47000
- Rs 47400
- Rs 48400
Answer: Option D
Explanation:
A:B = 3:2 = 6:4
=> A:C = 2:1 = 6:3
=> A:B:C = 6:4:3
B share = (4/13)*157300
= 48400
4. Nirmal and Kapil started a business investing Rs. 9000 and Rs. 12000 respectively. After 6 months, Kapil withdrew half of his investment. If after a year, the total profit was Rs. 4600, what was Kapil’s share initially ?
- Rs 2300
- Rs 2400
- Rs 2500
- None of above
Answer: Option A
Explanation:
Nirmal:Kapil = 9000*12:(12000*6+6000*6) = 1:1
Kapils share = Rs. [4600 *(1/2)) = Rs. 2300
5. Three partners A,B and C shared the profit in a software business in the ratio 5:7:8. They had partnered for 14 months, 8 months and 7 months respectively. Find the ratio of their investments?
- 19:49:64
- 20:49:64
- 20:49:65
- 20:50:64
Answer: Option B
Explanation:
Let their investments be Rs. x for 14 months, Rs. y for 8 months and Rs. z for 7 months respectively
Then, 14x : 8y : 7z = 5 : 7 : 8
Now, 14x/8x = 5/7
=> y = (49/20)x
14x/7z = 5/8
=> z = (16/5)x
=>x:y:z = x:(49/20)x:(16/5)x
= 20:49:64
